Silicon Valley Student-to-worker Summit Slated For Friday

A slate of speakers will share compelling ideas from California Gov. Gavin Newsom's new proposal of how to fund creating a future workforce.

SUNNYVALE, CA — A summit highlighting the workforce of tomorrow is expected to bring out more than 400 education and community leaders to gain insight into California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s plan to fund a new way of transferring students into the workforce, the Silicon Valley Leadership Group announced this week.

The sponsor will host the gathering Aug. 9 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. at NetApp located at 1395 Crossman Ave. in Sunnyvale.

Speakers include: State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond; Lande Ajose, Senior Advisor for Higher Education for the governor's office Lande Ajose; and San Jose State University President Mary Papazian.
