Speaking Spanish Elevates Role In Mountain View
The city wants residents who are literate in Spanish to come forward to lead their community through a special civic engagement program.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- Hablo Espanol.
If you can successfully say yes to that, registration is now open for Spanish-speaking residents of Mountain View to participate in the Spanish Language Civic Leadership Academy (Academia de Liderazgo Cívico en Español).
The popular program is returning for the third year with an expanded curriculum that will provide an opportunity to learn how to serve the community through local nonprofit boards, in addition to city boards and commissions. Space is limited and registration closes on Feb. 22.

The free academy, which is now a 10-week program, is designed to improve understanding of government and city services. In the bigger picture, the program also encourages participants to increase their civic engagement, leadership and volunteerism in the Mountain View community.
Prepared individuals may serve on council advisory bodies, committees and nonprofits around the town. The academy will include sessions led by representatives from the city's various departments.
