El Camino Real Reopens In South Bay

A crash involving a pedestrian closed the stretch of road for hours.

SUNNYVALE, CA — All lanes of eastbound El Camino Real in Sunnyvale are now open after they were closed to investigate a collision involving a pedestrian this morning, according to the city's Department of Public Safety.

Eastbound El Camino Real was closed off from Henderson Avenue to Halford Avenue for a little over two hours, public safety officials said.

Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority officials said around 7:15 a.m. that they were rerouting two bus lines, eastbound lines 22 and 522, to do a loop back around El Camino Real in order to continue operations
around the scene.

VTA officials said around 10:15 a.m. that their operations had returned back to normal and thanked the public for their patience.

The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety said more information about the collision will be sent out later in the day.
