Sunnyvale Pilot Dies In Helicopter Crash At Hayward Airport
The man identified as Wayne Prodger, 62, was the chief pilot for Vertical CFI Helicopters and had flown as a flight instructor for 11 years.
SUNNYVALE, CA — Wayne Prodger, 62, of Sunnyvale died Monday after a helicopter he was in crashed at Hayward Executive Airport, according to the Alameda County Coroner's office.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Prodger was the owner and chief pilot at Vertical CFI Helicopters since 2011. The profile also says he has been a helicopter flight instructor for 11 years.
One other person was in the Robinson R44 helicopter at the time of the crash, which occurred around 2:30 p.m. Monday on the left side of Runway 28L at the airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Information on the other person's condition was not immediately available.

The helicopter landed upside down at the airport, Hayward fire officials said Monday.
The crash is under investigation by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board.
