UPDATED: Witness Assists in Arrest of Suspected Prowlers

Mountain View Police respond to Monta Loma neighborhood Tuesday morning.

An adult and a juvenile have been arrested on suspicion of prowling Tuesday morning, the police department reported.

According to the Mountain View Police Department, around 10:16 a.m. on July 16th a resident of the Monta Loma neighborhood witnessed two males enter a backyard on the 100 block of Thompson Avenue. The witness then called 9-1-1.

Officers responded to the scene and set up a perimeter as the witness remained on the phone and described the suspects, their whereabouts and how they accessed the property.

The suspects continued in the backyard when police arrived and began their search.

Even though the suspects attempted to flee, officers detained and arrested them for prowling under CA Penal Code 647(h) and conspiracy, CA Penal Code 182.

The department arrested 20-year-old Marcos Hernandez from San Jose. Hernandez also had a pellet gun in his possession. The juvenile suspect was 17-years-old.
