20 Most Popular Baby Boy, Girl Names in California: 2015

Californians sure do like their Noahs and Sophias.

Those were the most popular girl and boy names in the state in 2015, according to the Social Security Administration.

Every year, the organization uses applications for social security cards to rank the most popular baby names. Nationally, Noah has been the most popular boy name for the last three years, Emma for the last two for girls.

But here in California, Sophia has reigned strong for the last five years. It's been the most popular name for newborn girls since 2011.

Noah has been the top boy name for two years running in the golden state.

Patch pulled from the data, which was released May 12, the top 20 names given to both girls and boys over the last year. Here they are:
