DeForest, Stone Lead In Murrieta City Council Election: Results

Murrieta City Council is a five-member, non-partisan board. Council members are elected by-district to serve four-year terms.

MURRIETA, CA โ€” In Murrieta, residents in Districts 3 and 4 chose who they want to represent them for the next four years on the city council.

Election Night vote counting is complete and, although results are not final, leaders emerged. (See the live tallies below.)

As of Wednesday morning, Lisa DeForest has a significant lead over Steven Brown for the District 3 seat. The winner will replace incumbent Gene Wunderlich, who was appointed to the council and is not running in 2020.

In District 4, Lori Stone is well ahead of David Kolk. The seat is currently held by Kelly Seyarto, who is running for the 67th Assembly District seat. Seyarto leads in that race.

Approximately 400,000 vote-by-mail and 25,000 provisional ballots still must be processed in Riverside County. Work on those began Wednesday morning. Ballots that are postmarked on or before Election Day also remain to be counted. The next updated results will be posted at 6 p.m. Thursday.
