CHP Announces Job Openings for the First Time in 3 Years

For the first time in three years, the California Highway Patrol is accepting applications from prospective officers.

If youโ€™ve ever wanted to be a California Highway Patrol officer, your chance to apply has arrivedโ€”if you meet the criteria.

On Jan. 4 and 5,ย  the CHP is accepting applications for the first time in three years.

โ€œThis is an opportunity to serve alongside some of Californiaโ€™s finest who provide the highestย level of safety, service and security throughout the state,โ€ stated CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow in a press release. โ€œA career with a law enforcement agency like the CHP offers unlimited opportunities for someone who is looking for a challenge.โ€

Commissioner Farrow said in the release that officers are needed throughout the state.

โ€œThrough this process, we are determined to find qualified men and women from diverse backgrounds who are committed to carrying out the CHPโ€™s mission and making a difference in their communities," he stated.

To be considered, candidates must be 20-35 years old, a U.S. citizen, have no felony convictionsย and be a high school graduate. Each applicant will be required to complete a selection processย including a written test, physical ability test, appraisal panel interview, background investigation,ย medical/vision evaluation and psychological evaluation.
