LAKE ELSINORE, CA โ€” California Highway Patrol officials on Tuesday asked for the public's help finding whomever is responsible for a deadly hit-and-run that happened last week in the Lake Elsinore area. The Lakeland Village wreck happened on Friday along Grand Avenue and claimed the life of 46-year-old Shawn Crouch.

Officials now believe it was a person in a red Honda Accord who killed Crouch. CHP Officer Mike Lassig says it's likely a 1990-1992 model.

"After the crash, the suspect immediately fled the scene in the Honda Accord in a northbound direction on Grand Avenue," Lassig said. "Evidence at the scene suggests the right front headlamp will be damaged, the right front passenger mirror will be missing and there will be additional right front damage."

Crouch was standing on the shoulder of Grand Avenue at Sangston Drive at about 9:15 p.m. Friday when he was hit, according to Lassig. He died at the hospital just hours later.

Anyone who may have spotted the Accord is asked to call the CHP's Temecula Area office at (951) 506-2000.
