1 Dead, 3 Hospitalized In Winchester Area Wreck
Fire officials say two people were ejected in the crash, one of whom died at the scene.

WINCHESTER, CA โ Emergency officials were sent to the scene Monday of a deadly wreck in the Winchester area, the California Highway Patrol reports. The crash was reported at 12:54 p.m. along SR-74, just west of Winchester Road and involved four people.
The Riverside County Fire Department reports that two people were ejected in the collision, which happened between two vehicles. One of those ejected died at the scene. The other was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries.
"The two additional patients have been transported to an area hospital by ground ambulance with minor injuries," the fire department said in an incident report.

Preliminary CHP reports indicate that one of the vehicles ended up in a ditch, off the side of the roadway.
The coroner's office was called to the scene at around 1:30 p.m., according to CHP reports.

The CHP shut down the entire eastbound side of the highway at the scene to conduct a preliminary investigation. Motorists were being detoured around the wreckage. The closure was expected to be lifted by 3 p.m.
