4.1 Earthquake Strikes Near Yorba Linda

Another temblor shakes Southern California Wednesday. Did you feel it?

A 4.1 earthquake hit the southland Wednesday, striking about 3 miles northeast of Yorba Linda, according toย the United States Geological Survey.

Some Murrieta residents reported feeling the quakeโ€”which hitย about 1:31 p.m.โ€” at a "weak" level, while it was felt more strongly near its Orange County epicenter.

According to theย Orange County Fire Authority, the agency fielded "no damage reports as a result of the 4.1 mag earthquake in Yorba Linda" and are carrying on "normal operations."

Eleven minutes after Wednesday's rumble, a smaller quake struck Brawley, the site of a recent swarm of quakes.

That quake registered as a 2.6 on the Richter Scale.

The rumbles are the latest in a series of earthquakes that have recently hit Southern California.

On Aug. 26,

Wednesday's Orange County quake is "less likely related to that [the Brawley swarm] and more likely an aftershock from the two that struck Yorba Linda earlier, on August 7 and 8," said a spokesman for the California Institute of Technology.
