DUI Checkpoint Announced For Southwest Riverside County

TEMECULA, CA โ€” The California Highway Patrol's Temecula Area Office will staff a DUI/driver's license checkpoint this Friday, officials announced. It will start around 8 p.m. and last until about 2 a.m. Saturday.

The checkpoint is slated to take place somewhere within the unincorporated area of Southwest Riverside County. Exact locations for these operations are not provide ahead of time.

"Motorists approaching the checkpoint will see informational signs advising them that a sobriety checkpoint is ahead," CHP Officer Mike Lassig said in a news release. "Once diverted into the lane, motorists will be detained only a few moments while an officer explains the purpose of the checkpoint and checks their driver license."

Funding for the operation comes from state and federal grants.
