Fatal Christmas Eve Crash On I-215 In Murrieta Prompts SigAlert

MURRIETA, CA — A fiery crash on Interstate 215 south in Murrieta left at least one person dead on Christmas Eve.

The crash was reported at approximately 5 p.m. at the Los Alamos Road offramp amid whipping winds and rainy conditions.

According to preliminary information from the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle went off the road and caught fire.

There was no immediate word on additional injuries or fatalities. It's unclear whether other vehicles may have been involved in the crash.

The Los Alamos Road offramp was closed as of 5:17 p.m., and a SigAlert was issued for the area that was expected to last until about 7:30 p.m. as law enforcement investigated, according to the CHP.
