Fire Crews Prevent Major Wildlands Blaze On Murrieta's West Side
The blaze was reported as a vehicle fire at De Luz Road and Via Mederios, on the western edge of Murrieta.
MURRIETA, CA — A vehicle fire Wednesday evening that spread to nearby brush at the edge of Murrieta city limits was quickly doused by firefighters before it had a chance to erupt into a major wildlands blaze.
The fire was reported at 5:20 p.m. at De Luz Road and Via Mederios, on the western edge of Murrieta.
Murrieta Fire & Rescue battled the blaze, and assistance from Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department was called in due to the blaze's potential for spread amid strong winds in the open-space canyon area.

Firefighters stopped the blaze's forward progress within about 15 minutes, and a half-acre of brush was charred before the fire was halted.
The cause of the vehicle fire was not immediately known. There were no reported injuries.
