Free 'Shred' Event Set For Saturday In Westminster
Reduce fraud risk, and dispose of confidential documents in shredding session sponsored by local branch of San Diego County Credit Union.
WESTMINSTER, CA โ Gather up your unneeded confidential and personal documents and head over Saturday to a Westminster public "shredding" event, sponsored by the San Diego County Credit Union.
The local branch, at 6745 Westminster Blvd., is hosting the "shred" session from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The San Diego County Credit Union, SDCCU, is offering the free shredding services on Saturday, Nov. 16 at three locationsโ the Westminster Branch at 6745 Westminster Blvd., along with sites in San Marcos at 790 West San Marcos and the SDCCU Operations Center at 6545 Sequence Drive in Mira Mesa.

The public is invited to bring a maximum of two boxes of documents to have shredded on the spot at no charge in the parking lots of these three SDCCU locations, company officials said.
โThe upcoming SDCCU Shred Day is a great way to properly dispose of confidential documents for free to help minimize the risk of fraud and identity theft," SDCCU President Teresa Campbell said. "With the prevalence of fraud around the holiday, this is a great way to ensure youโre limiting your risk, and we hope you can take advantage of this opportunity.โ

The first 200 people at each location also will receive a free gift, the credit union said
SDCCU began hosting its free Shred Day events in 2007 and has since collected, shredded and recycled more than 4.3 million pounds of documents at no charge, saving more than 37,000 trees โ which equates to roughly 120 pounds shredded per one saved treeโ the credit union said.
