Inmate Dies Following Medical Emergency In Murrieta Cell

MURRIETA, CA โ€” An inmate at the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta suffered a medical emergency in his cell and later died, authorities said Wednesday.

The man, whose name was not disclosed, was found by correctional deputies about 11:50 p.m. Monday, according to the Riverside County sheriff's Capt. David Holm.

Holm said deputies initiated CPR on the inmate, who was later transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Despite life-saving measures by medical staff, the inmate was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.
