MURRIETA, CA — Murrieta Hot Springs Road is closed in both directions Monday morning after a major crash on the busy roadway. One person was taken away by ambulance from the scene, but the extent of their injuries wasn't immediately known.
The crash happened just after 10 a.m., between Jefferson Avenue and Madison Street. A vehicle slammed into a power pole, shearing it in the process.
Police are urging motorists to steer clear.

"Please avoid the area of Murrieta Hot Springs and Madison due to a traffic collision that involves a power pole," police wrote on Facebook shortly after the wreck occurred. "Murrieta Hot Springs is closed in both directions between Madison and Jefferson. We will update as soon as the road is open."
