Murrieta Home Destroyed In Fire

UPDATED: The fire was first reported just after 11 a.m.

MURRIETA, CA โ€” A fire destroyed a Murrieta home on Monday, sending a large smoke plume throughout the area in the process.. Details are limited at this time, but it was first reported at 11:09 a.m. on Camino Cinife, according to fire reports. That's near the area of Murrieta Hot Springs and Winchester roads.

Images show the mobile home in the planned community was a total loss. However, by noon the flames were doused, and fire crews prevented the flames from spreading to any other nearby structures.

Witnesses at the scene said a man lived at the home, but he escaped. His cat was also reportedly saved by a neighbor.

CHP reports indicated that smoke was visible from Interstate 15.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
