Murrieta Girl Remains on Life Support; More Benefit Events Planned

Maddi Olson suffered critical head injuries in a skateboarding accident Jan. 5 in San Clemente.

More benefit events are planned on behalf ofย a 15-year-old Murrieta girl who remains hospitalized in a coma after sufferingย critical injuries in a skateboarding accident.ย 

Madison "Maddi" Olson fell Jan. 5 while riding down a hill inย San Clemente.ย Her skull was fractured, which required emergency brain surgery. As of Monday, her mother, Autumn Olson, wroteย that doctors recommend keeping Maddi on life support for the time being.

"She's not ready.ย The swelling hasn't gone down enough to make changes," according to the post on the Facebook page, "Prayers 4 Maddi."

An initialย fund-raising event was held Sunday at The Rogue Restaurant & Speakeasy in Murrieta, a restaurant that her parents recently opened.ย 

On Tuesday, Jan. 14,ย The Mill Restaurantย will donate 15 percent of its sales to help the Olson family withย medical expenses. Maddi's older sister, Nicole, works at the restaurant.

Then from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23,ย Chick-fil-A of Murrietaย will donate 20 percent of its proceeds for the cause in honor of Maddiโ€™s 16th birthday.

And whenย students of the Murrieta Valley Unified School District return to school Tuesday following winter break, students at Murrieta Valley High School where Maddi is a sophomore, are asked toย wearย blue, her favorite color.

These are just a few examples of theย continued communityย support and well wishes for Maddi, whoย played soccer at the high school andย locally at the club level.

She isย hospitalized at Children's Hospital of Orange County at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo.
