Murrieta Poised To Go Bigger On 2021 Fireworks For 30th Birthday
City Council is poised to approve two fireworks shows for 2021 in celebration of Murrieta's 30th year of cityhood.
MURRIETA, CA โ Time flies. It's been 30 years since Murrieta became a city. To mark the milestone, two fireworks shows are being planned this year.
The city typically celebrates its birthday every June with a big bash, including fireworks. Due to uncertainty caused by the pandemic, however, the 2021 event isn't happening next month.
But the big 30-year occasion is not going unrecognized. A proper celebration is tentatively scheduled in the fall, complete with fireworks and activities for the whole family, city documents show. The date is still to be determined.

"An event the size of the birthday bash requires several months of planning," according to a staff report from the city.
For those wanting a summer sky spectacular, the city is also planning a 30th birthday fireworks show on July 1 at Los Alamos Park โ minus all the extra bash celebration.

On Tuesday, Murrieta City Council is poised to award an $85,000 contract to the Lakeside, Calif.-based company for five annual fireworks shows through 2025, including the extra July 1, 2021, special 30th-year commemorative display.
If approved, more details about each 2021 fireworks event are expected soon.
