Murrieta Valley HS Grad Advances In U.S. Open Qualifier

Harrison Kingsley of Murrieta is vying for a spot in the prestigious golf event.

SAN DIEGO, CA โ€” A Murrieta Valley High School graduate has advanced to final qualifying for the U.S. Open.

If Harrison Kingsley of Murrieta continues to swing as well as he did at this week's qualifying event held at The Grand Golf Club in San Diego, he'll earn a spot at this yearโ€™s prestigious golf event.

The U.S. Open takes place at Torrey Pines, June 17-20.

Kingsley, a finance major at the University of San Diego, is one of four golfers still in the running. His gross score following Thursday's play was 67, just behind Japan's Leo Oyo and Escondido's Connor Williams, who each ended the day with a 66.

Kingsley now advances to the next stage, which is Final Qualifying, May 24 - June 7, at 10 different sites across the United States.

The 6-foot 2-inch-tall Kingsley was raised in Murrieta and has an impressive golf bio, according to the Toreros, including three top 10 finishes during the 2019-20 season.
