Murrieta Valley Senior Advances To National Musical Theatre Comp

From the Murrieta Valley Unified School District: Marisa Moenho, shown performing in Murrieta Valley High School’s recent production of Urinetown, was named the Lucie Arnaz Award Winner for Outstanding Actress at the Lucie Arnaz Awards for High School Musical Theatre on Sunday, May 20, at The Annenberg Theatre in Palm Springs.

Moenho will go to The National High School Musical Theatre Awards on June 25th at the Minskoff Theatre in New York, where she will join 100 other high school students competing for the title of top high school actor and actress in the nation.

The Lucie Arnaz Awards recognize performing arts students throughout the Inland Empire. This season, 28
competitors competed for the Lucie Arnaz Awards. The competitors represented 14 schools in Palm Springs,
Desert Hot Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Beaumont, Riverside, Temecula and Murrieta.

Each of the competitors played the leading role in their high school musical produced during the 2017-18 school year.

The judges for the event included Lucia Arnaz, Stage and Television Actress Joyce Bulifant, Hollywood Agent Sid Craig, Tony Winner Gary Beach, Tony Winner Larry Fuller, Former Member of The Ten Tenors Chad Hilligus, Broadway's Janene Lovullo and Martin Wiviott, CEO of The Hollywood Pantages Theatre.
