Murrieta Valley's Jack Yary Commits To USC, Just Like Famous Dad

His father, Anthony Ronald Yary, also attended USC before becoming the first overall pick of the 1968 NFL Draft​ by the Minnesota Vikings​.

MURRIETA, CA — Jack Yary, a senior at Murrieta Valley High School, is following in his famous father's footsteps.

On Monday, the Nighthawks' tight end announced on Twitter that he has committed to play football for the USC Trojans. His father, Anthony Ronald Yary, also attended USC before becoming the first overall pick of the 1968 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. The senior Yary left the game in 1982 following a short stint with the Los Angeles Rams; he became a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001.

The younger Yary is a three-star prospect according to 247Sports.com. At 6-feet, 6-inches tall and weighing 245 pounds, he caught 42 passes for 621 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior, the website posted.

According to Realdawg.com and a report from The Orange County Register, Yary had been in discussions with the University of Washington, and in November he de-committed from USC before announcing his final decision this week.
