Murrieta Woman Identified In Deadly Temecula Freeway Wreck
The woman was killed and three others were injured in a major crash on Interstate 15, according to the CHP.
MURRIETA, CA โ A woman who was killed after being hit by a speeding motorist accused of driving under the influence on Interstate 15 in Temecula this week has been publicly identified. She was Janet Genao of Murrieta. Genao was 44 years old, according to the Riverside County coroner's office.
Genao was driving a 2015 Nissan Altima southbound on I-15, just south of Rancho California Road, on Tuesday when she was hit by a man in a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado truck, according to CHP reports. Video footage of the incident showed the truck driver speeding through the morning traffic on the freeway before then slamming โ full-speed โ into Genao's sedan. The car was destroyed and the woman died at the scene.
Javier Caldera of Washington state was arrested at the scene on suspicion of several charges, including murder, DUI, driving without a proper license and gross vehicular manslaughter. As of Wednesday morning, he remained jailed on $1 million bail, records indicated.
