Murrieta Woman Struck, Killed By Vehicle On Monroe Avenue

Delores Jenkins-Rhoden, 73, was struck around 7:20 a.m. in the #2 lane of Monroe Avenue, just south of Sunflower Road.

MURRIETA, CA โ€” A Murrieta pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle Sunday morning has died from her injuries, authorities confirmed Monday.

Delores Jenkins-Rhoden, 73, was struck around 7:20 a.m. in the #2 lane of Monroe Avenue, just south of Sunflower Road, according to Murrieta Police Department Lt. James Gruell.

Jenkins-Rhoden died from her injuries at 12:02 p.m. Sunday at Wildomar's Inland Valley Medical Center, the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's Bureau reported.

The woman was struck by a southbound motorist while crossing the roadway from east to west outside of a crosswalk, Gruell said.

The male driver who struck Jenkins-Rhoden was cooperating with the investigation and there have been no arrests, Gruell said. He was the vehicle's only occupant.

The fatal incident remains under investigation.
