MVUSD Announces Governing Board of Education Vacancy
Trustee Barbara Muir resigned her position due to health reasons, effective September 1, 2017.

From MVUSD: On July 5, 2017, Board of Education trustee Barbara Muir resigned her position due to health reasons, effective September 1, 2017. Board President Robin Crist said, โBarbara Muir's contribution and service to the board and to the Murrieta community has been exemplary and her presence will be truly missed. Our continued thoughts and prayers are with her.โ
Muirโs resignation creates a vacancy on the Murrieta Valley Unified School District Board of Education. The
Board met on July 18, 2017, and unanimously agreed to make a provisional appointment to fill the vacant
position. The term of that provisional appointment will expire in November 2018. At that time, the appointed
candidate may seek election to fill the remainder of the trustee's term through November 2020.
The District is now accepting applications from qualified persons who would like to be considered for
appointment. Applications are due by August 7, 2017 by 12:00 noon. Qualified candidates must be:

1. A California registered voter residing in the boundaries of Murrieta Valley Unified School District
2. At least 18 years of age
3. Not disqualified by the constitution or laws of the state from holding a civil office
4. Not an employee of the Murrieta Valley Unified School District
If an MVUSD employee applies and is selected to fill the position, their employment would be terminated upon being sworn in to office.

Application packets are being accepted from 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the District Support Center at the above
address. Completed application packets must be delivered to the District Support Center in person, by mail or
e-mail and must be received no later than 12:00 noon on August 7, 2017. Completed application packets may
be attached to an e-mail and sent to Laura Gonzales at lgonzales@murrieta.k12.ca.us no later than 12:00 noon on August 7, 2017.
