Longtime Chula Vista resident, Jean Diana Lane, passed away in her home in Murrieta on Oct. 6, after a long battle with Alzheimers.
Jean Lane, (born Jean Diana Jaques) was born and raised in San Diego. After marrying her husband, Boyd L. Lane in 1949, she moved around the country for many years when her husband was in the U.S. Navy.

After Boydโs retirement, they settled back in Chula Vista where they lived for nearly 40 years. Boyd passed away in 1990, and in 2004, Jean moved to Murrieta to be near her daughter and grandchildren.
Jean was known for her fun, loving, caring, and generous nature. She loved helping people in need and even gave people lodging when times were tough.

Many people called her โMom.โ She and Boyd raised four children, and participated in many activities with which her children were involved.
In her neighborhood in Chula Vista, she was known as the โcoolโ mom for her laid back approach to parenting. She loved children and having them around made her feel youthful.
She was involved with the Chula Vista Bobbysox league, chaperoning the first All-Star team that earned the National Title in 1975.
She and her husband were also equipment managers, which meant keeping track of hundreds of uniforms and ironing and sewing many emblems that were required insignia.
She loved it when Velcro was invented.
She was also an active member of the Chula Vista Fleet Reserve, and Park Hill Methodist Church, where she was a charter member.
She worked at Rohr Industries for 20 years.
Before full-time employment with the defense contractor, she held other jobs, mostly in civilian positions with the military -- including the camera and luggage department. During her husbandโs military career she lived in Rhode Island, Guam, Honolulu, and Great Lakes, IL.
She is preceded in death by two of her children, Ernest L. Lane, and Hannah L. Lane, and her husband Boyd.
She is survived by two other children, Boyd L. Lane, Jr. of Santa Rosa, CA, and Choleโ L. Tiscornia (Lane) of Lakeside, CA. A memorial service is being held at Park Hill Methodist Church, 545 E. Naples, Chula Vista on Friday, Nov. 20, at 11AM. Reception at the church will follow after the service.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Rosecrans National Cemetery.
