MURRIETA, CA โ€” A housing subdivision proposed on 521 acres located behind Murrieta Valley High School, at the bottom of the Santa Rosa Plateau, is under review with the city's Planning Division โ€” again.

The applicant is asking for a time extension on the tentative tract map for the proposed project located at the southwest corner of Nighthawk Way and Hayes Avenue, south of Calle Del Oso Oro, and northwest of Vineyard Parkway.

The project's tentative tract map was originally approved April 14, 1999. It consists of 1,121 residential lots, open space, a recreation lot, a school, and a park, according to city documents. It is part of the Vineyards Specific Plan.

The applicant is asking for a new expiration date of Dec. 29, 2021.

The city's Planning Division is recommending to approve the extension, but the public has 10 days to first weigh in.

"The City Planner will consider all comments before a decision is made on the request for extension of time," the city announced Friday.

The City Planner's decision on the requested extension will be made May 13.
