Regulating Vacation Rentals In Murrieta: Public To Weigh In

MURRIETA, CA โ Renting a home for a few days โ instead of a hotel room โ has become a popular way to vacation. But the concept can cause concern for some local residents who don't want strangers whooping it up in their neighborhoods every weekend.
In Murrieta, the city has heard complaints about "short-term" rental properties, and the groans are being taken seriously.
On July 7, the city will host a second workshop on the issue. The workshops are being held in an effort to gain public input on a possible ordinance to regulate short-term vacation rentals in the city.

During the upcoming workshop, city staff will discuss "hosted" and "non-hosted" options, and will also lay out different ordinance frameworks.
Murrieta City Council will be in attendance at the workshop. At the end of the workshop, the council may direct staff to come back with a draft ordinance for review.

The July 7 meeting begins at 11:30 a.m. at Murrieta City Hall/Council Chambers, 1 Town Square. Virtual and in-person options are available for public input.
