Renowned Pianist to Give Concerts at Murrieta Church

Dr. Jerry Nelson will give two live multi-media concerts at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday, July 15, at Gateway Church of the Nazarene, 23560 Jefferson Ave. in Murrieta. Admission is free.

An internationally-celebrated concert pianist, Dr. Jerry Nelson, will be welcomed locally Sunday at in Murrieta.

Nelson, who has performed on all continents, will give two live multi-media concerts at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. at the church located at 23560 Jefferson Ave.

Nelson has teamed up with well-known Christian musicians, Dino and Anthony Burger, and accompanied such artists as Glen Campbell, Sandi Patti, Tom Netherton, Steve Amerson and others, according to a news release.

Today, he is focused on a full-time concert career.

Much of the proceeds of his concerts enable occasional trips to the Congo and Zimbabwe where Nelson performs concerts and his wife, Rachel, works with AIDS victims and training youth peer groups, the news release stated.

They also work with humanitarian programs including economical water purification and advanced education for promising youth.

Retirement, Nelson says, is not yet on the radar screen.

Nelson has conducted orchestras from London and Tel Aviv to Nashville and Los Angeles as a composer, arranger, conductor and studio producer.

His creative touch appears on more than 500 recorded projects working with sons Scott and Brad. His publishing and arranging efforts include several dozen original songs and more than 5,000 arrangements.

He began his career in public school music in Minnesota followed by more than three decades arranging and directing orchestra at Denver First Nazarene Church.

There is no charge for admission to Sunday's concerts.
