Riverside County Democrats Lead Going Into 2020 Election
The number of registered Democratic voters in Riverside County outnumber Republicans by a wide margin, compared to elections past.
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA โ According to the latest information from the Secretary of State, approximately 1,179,958 Riverside County residents are registered to vote in the upcoming Nov. 3 general election, and they should expect their voter information guides to arrive shortly.
The Riverside County Registrar of Voters announced Thursday it started sending out the guides, which are intended to help voters make their election choices.
According to latest data (Sept. 21) from the Secretary of State, 471,495 Riverside County residents are registered Democrat while 386,340 are registered Republican for the upcoming election. Among other parties, there are 73,578 registrations countywide, while 248,545 voters have registered as No Party Preference.

According to Secretary of State data, there is an increase in Riverside County's registered voters compared to this time four years ago, with the uptick largely among Democrat and No Party Preference. Secretary of State data show that on Sept. 9, 2016, there was a total of 936,703 registered voters countywide compared to 1,179,958 as of Sept. 21, 2020.

Important dates to remember for the Nov. 3 election:
- Sept. 24 โ Voter information guides mailed. (If voters do not receive an information guide in the mail, it will be available online at www.voteinfo.net starting Monday, Oct. 5. Voters can also call the registrarโs office at 951-486-7200 or 800-773-8683 to request a mailed copy.)
- Oct. 5 โ First day of early voting in the Registrar of Votersโ office and first day the registrar will mail vote-by-mail ballots to voters.
- Oct. 19 โ Last day to register to vote or change political party preference for the Nov. 3 election. You can register online at registertovote.ca.gov or request a paper application by calling 951-486-7200.
- Oct. 27 โ Last day the registrar may accept mailed requests for vote-by-mail ballots. After Oct. 27, voters must go to the registrarโs office to request and pick up a vote-by-mail ballot. Voters who have requested but not received a vote-by-mail ballot by Oct. 27 should contact the registrarโs office at 951-486-7200.
- Oct. 31 โ First day of voting at voter assistance centers.
- Nov. 3 โ Election Day
IMPORTANT: Vote-by-mail ballots must be received by the elections official, no later than the close of the polls on election day or be postmarked on or before election day and received no later than seventeen days after election day to be counted.
The Nov. 3 election is a countywide election. Registered voters in all areas of the county are eligible to cast votes in this election. For questions about your eligibility to vote, contact the registrarโs office at 951-486-7200.
Voter assistance centers and ballot drop-off locations are printed in the voter information guide. A Spanish-language version of the guide will be available at www.voteinfo.net and a copy can be mailed upon request.
Special Note: Effective January 1, 2017, conditional voter registration is available to eligible voters in California pursuant to Election Codes 2170 through 2173. Conditional voter registration (CVR) extends the existing 15-day registration deadline to eligible voters, allowing them to register and vote 14 days prior to an election through Election Day. An eligible voter would need to register directly at any voter assistance center, to conditionally register to vote and vote a provisional ballot.
