Stuck Horse Rescued in Temecula Valley Wine Country

A horse had to be rescued from a muddy predicament Friday east of Temecula, a fire official said.

Reports that the steed was stuck inside a miry pen in the 37300 block of Avenida Chapala in wine country, first came in at 12:55 p.m. Friday, according to Mark Annas, spokesman for CAL FIRE/Riverside County

The first responding firefighters discovered the animal stuck on its side in mud, unable to get up.

Nearly five hours later and through a cooperative effort between eight firefighters, local animal control personnel and members of the Norco Animal Rescue Team, the equine was safely extricated at 5:32 p.m.

“The horse was reported to be in good condition after being safely uprighted,” Annas reported.
