Concialdi said the skateboarder, who was not wearing a helmet, was rushed in serious condition to Mission Regional Trauma Center in Mission Viejo.

Patch has learned that Maddiโ€™s skull was fractured in the fall, which required emergency brain surgery and left her in a drug-induced coma.

A Facebook page was launched Monday, asking for prayers for Maddi. Family members have set up a fundraising campaign onย Fundly.com,ย and are updating journal entries onย Caringbridge.org.

Members of the local soccer community are also rallying for her recovery. The girls soccer team at Murrieta Valley High School, where she most recently played, planned to dedicate its home game Tuesday night to Maddi. They asked everyone to wear "surf blue" because it is her favorite color.

A local benefit event to help the family pay for medical expenses is planned for 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12 at The Rogue Restaurant, 41080 California Oaks Road in Murrieta,ย according to a Facebook event listing. The restaurantโ€”next to Reading Cinemas and Chiliโ€™sโ€”was recently opened by her parents, Patch has learned.

Students at Murrieta Valley are also being asked to wear blue when they return to school Jan. 14 after winter break.

โ€œMadison is such a beautiful, lively girl, and she has so much more life left to live,โ€ her sister wrote on Fundly. com. โ€œWe won't entertain the notion that she won't win this fight.โ€
