Five days ago, on June 1, two people lost their lives in separate Winchester Road collisions, according to CHP reports. The first victim was a 30-year-old motorcyclist who was struck and killed at Winchester and Frontage roads in Murrieta just after 4 a.m.

Later that same day, another fatal wreck claimed the life of a Murrieta girl and critically injured another teenager at the intersection of Keller and Winchester roads, according to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's Bureau. Both of the crashes remain under investigation. Another teen injured in that crash, Landis Hooper, remains in intensive care. Her brother, the driver who was struck, has been released from the hospital.

On Monday, nearly 100 supporters of the Hooper family arrived at Southwest Health Care Inland Valley Hospital in Wildomar in a prayer vigil for her and her family as she remains in a medically induced coma.

The string of fatal Winchester Road crashes actually began in mid-May when Yvette Amezcua, 34, of Perris died in a collision at the intersection of Winchester and Scott roads. Multiple others were also injured in that crash.

The causes remain under investigation as locals seek answers.

"How many people are going to die on this road before the city/county does something about it?!" a resident asked over Twitter in response to the latest crash. "We just lost a teenager the other day and now this! Sending my condolences to the deceased and hoping the other patient can survive."

More information will be added to this report when it is released.
