$150K Paid To Customers Of Former North Bay Midas Owner: Napa DA

The Napa County DA said $150,000 in restitution from Midas was paid to customers of the former owner of Napa, Petaluma and Vacaville shops.

NORTH BAY, CA — Fifty-two customers of the former franchise owner of three Midas / Speedee auto service shops in Napa, Petaluma and Vacaville received a share of $150,000 in restitution from Midas International Corporation, Napa County District Attorney Allison Haley recently announced.

"We received dozens of complaints," Haley said. "... Some of these customers suffered thousands of dollars in damage to their vehicles, while others were deprived of the use of their vehicles for years at a time."

The restitution stemmed from a lawsuit filed in November 2018 by the district attorneys of Napa, Solano and Sonoma counties against Correll, his company CRC Luxury Motors LLC, and Midas International Corporation on accusations of unfair competition and false advertising. The case was based on allegations that Correll’s Midas shops performed unnecessary, unapproved, and/or grossly negligent repairs.

When the Napa County DA's Office received $150,000 in restitution funds through a settlement with Midas International Corporation, customers were alerted through a news release that they may be eligible for restitution if they filed a complaint and could show evidence of loss.

While a settlement was reached with Midas International, the lawsuit against Correll and his business is ongoing, Haley said in a news release June 16.
