Britney Spears' Ex-Husband Booked Into Napa Jail On Theft Charges

NAPA COUNTY, CA — Britney Spears' ex-husband, 40-year-old Jason Allen Alexander, was booked into Napa County jail Tuesday afternoon in connection with an arrest warrant dating back to April 2016, the Napa County Sheriff's Office said.

Alexander is facing two felony charges and the bail is set at $20,000, Napa County sheriff's Spokesman Henry Wofford said.

"Earlier today he was transported from the Ventura County jail to Napa County, after serving time for crime(s) committed in Southern California," Wofford said.

Alexander is set to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon for grand theft over $400 and buying and receiving stolen property.

According to Wofford, the charges stem from August 2015 when Alexander rented a room for $400/month at the home of an American Canyon woman.

"A woman who owned a home was looking for someone to rent one of her bedrooms and a friend recommended Mr. Alexander," Wofford said. "Within the first month, a very expensive bracelet was missing."

The woman estimated the bracelet was worth $2,000.

"After the bracelet was missing, which was kept in her bedroom, she confronted him, 'Did you steal it?' He said no; a week later he admitted he did and pawned it at a pawn shop in Vallejo," Wofford said.

When the woman attempted to recover it from the pawn shop, where it is alleged Alexander was paid $180 for the bracelet, she was told she needed to file a theft report.

The Napa County Sheriff's Department caught wind of it in early 2016 and helped the woman get her bracelet back. A warrant was also issued for Alexander's arrest at that time.

Prior to the warrant, Alexander was not jailed anywhere in the state of California but that changed when he was convicted of trespassing at Britney Spears' June wedding and was sentenced to serve 64 days in Ventura County jail.

Napa County was in contact with Ventury County authorities and arranged to extradite Alexander upon his release from Ventura County jail.
