Petrified Forest Road In Calistoga Reopens After Truck Crash
An overturned dump truck that carried asphalt closed Petrified Forest Road this morning in Calistoga.

UPDATED 3:00PM-
CALISTOGA - The road closure of Petrified Forest Road this morning was caused by the overturn of a dump truck hauling eight cubic yards of asphalt, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Sgt. William Bradshaw says the driver of the dump truck lost his brakes as he approached the intersection of Frantz Valley School Road and drove off the road to avoid traffic.

Bradshaw says the dump truck rolled onto its right side because of the maneuver and hit the rear corner of a white Chevrolet work truck, spilling the asphalt onto the road, and causing the closure.

UPDATED 11:30AM-
CALISTOGA - Officials reopened Petrified Forest Road at 11:07 a.m., according to corresponding information from the City of Calistoga and the Napa County Road Department published on Nixle.
Information posted on the CHP traffic website says the accident was reported at 8:47 a.m.
Updating early reports, the CHP clarified details of the accident to say a dump truck and white pickup truck had collided at the intersection of Petrified Forest Road and Franz Valley School Road.
Earlier reports stated a big rig was involved. The crash completely blocked the road.
A sig-alert was issued at 9:34 a.m. due the closure of the roadway.
The roadway was reopened at 11:07 a.m.
No information has been released regarding injuries.

CALISTOGA - An overturned big rig in Calistoga has closed Petrified Forest Road for at least the next three hours, according to Napa County road officials.
The Napa County Road Department says Petrified Forest Rd is closed at Franz Valley School Rd.
The accident was reported about 9 a.m.
