NAPA, CA — Movie theaters went dark a year ago due to the coronavirus pandemic but as case rates fall and more people are vaccinated, it is "Lights, Camera, Action" as movie theaters including Cinemark reopen in Napa and nearby North Bay cities.

Cinemark's Century Napa Valley and XD movie theater in Napa has already reopened, and Cinemark's Vallejo Century 14 opens Friday.

Cinemark movie theaters have also reopened at Century Rowland Plaza in Novato and at Century Northgate and Century Regency in San Rafael.

Mill Valley CineArts Sequoia and Century Larkspur are also opening soon but reopening dates were not announced by Cinemark as of Wednesday.

What To Expect

Cinemark is offering welcome-back prices on tickets and movie snacks as part of its phased reopening process in Napa and other counties that have moved to the state's less-restrictive red tier. Under California's Blueprint for a Safer Economy, red-tier guidelines allow movie theaters to reopen at 25 percent capacity or 100 people.

Cinemark recommends purchasing tickets online and requires guests to wear face masks in the lobby, restrooms and hallways.

"For everyone’s safety, face masks are required in our theatres except when eating & drinking," Cinemark says on its website.

"Cleanliness: Now Showing Everywhere"

Showtimes are staggered to prevent overcrowding, and theater team members have wellness checks prior to every shift. Staff members are provided clean masks and gloves for their shifts, and each theater has a chief of "safe and clean" on shift at all times.

Cinemark sanitizes each auditorium and seat before every showtime.

"Any occupied seat is thoroughly sanitized before the next showtime, as well as adjacent seats, handrails and children’s booster seats," Cinemark says.

Auditoriums are disinfected using pressurized sprayer equipment to reach all seats, handrails, armrests, tables, footrests and cup holders.

"This fast-drying and non-toxic method allows us to thoroughly and evenly apply products identified by the EPA to be effective in eliminating COVID-19," Cinemark says.

Cinemark makes seat-wipe dispensers available for guests who wish to reclean their seats.
