Coronavirus In Napa County: 2nd Death Reported

The city of Napa resident was being treated at a hospital outside of Napa County.

NAPA, CA — A second Napa County resident has died from COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus. Napa County Public Health was notified Friday of the death, which occurred Thursday in a hospital outside of Napa County, according to Molly Rattigan, deputy county executive officer.

The adult patient was a city of Napa resident.

"Pending notification of immediate family and due to confidentiality laws, no other information is being released at this time," Rattigan said.

As of 10:30 a.m. Friday, there were 20 confirmed coronavirus cases among Napa County residents, resulting in two deaths. A total of 422 county residents have been tested for the severe acute respiratory syndrome, 298 of whom tested negative and 104 of whom were still awaiting test results.

Like its Bay Area neighbors, Napa County has extended its shelter-at-home public health order through the month of April.
