Do You Have What It Takes to be Mr. Napa or Mr. Solano?

New pageants set out to find counterparts for Miss Napa and Miss Solano.

We've all heard of the Miss Napa and Miss Solano, but have you ever wondered how come men don't have a contest of their own?

After years of fielding inquiries about a male pageant, The Miss Napa County and Miss Solano Scholarship Organizatations are now raising funds for Mr. Napa and Mr. Solano pageants.

“We are a non-profit, all volunteer organization and wanted to find a fun way to raise scholarship money for our girls,” says executive director, Sarah Rutan. “Every year, we have had men jokingly ask us if we have a pageant for them too and we have said no but this year we thought, why not? Let’s have a Mr. Pageant as a fundraiser!”

The Mr. Napa County and Mr. Solano pageant will consist of four phases of competition including a 90-second talent presentation, lifestyle and fitness in sportswear, eveningwear and on-stage question.

They will be judged by a panel of local titleholders in the Miss America Organization from all around the Bay Area. The newly crowned winners will be awarded with a crown, sash, cape and the opportunity to serve as an escort to our Miss Napa County 2013, Noeli Cardenas and Miss Solano 2013, Angela Laird on select appearances as well as be honored at next years program.

The first round of fundraising for the pageants is set for Sunday, June 2, 2013 a 2 p.m., at the American Canyon Community Center and tickets can be purchased at the door for $20.00. All proceeds will go toward the Miss Napa County and Miss Solano Scholarship Organizations. Both are official local preliminaries of the Miss California and Miss America Organizations.

Anyone who thinks they can become the first Mr. Napa or Mr. Solano can through Sunday, May 26, 2013. To be eligible, contestants must be male, between the ages of 18 and 100+, be willing to have fun on-stage and have a love for Napa or Solano counties.

Since it is a fundraiser, they do not have to live in either county, but they must be available to participate in the pageant on June 2. Contestants can apply online at www.MissNapa.org or www.MissSolano.org.
