Drought Emergency Declared By City Of American Canyon
The city is calling on all water customers to voluntarily conserve.
AMERICAN CANYON, CA — A stage 1 drought emergency has been declared by the city of American Canyon.
The American Canyon City Council declared the emergency at its meeting Tuesday and is calling for voluntary conservation from all water customers.
At the request of the city, water customers are asked to implement the following best practices:

— Visit CityofAmericanCanyon.org/MyWater to sign up for the customer portal to monitor your account for unusual activity;
— Participate in the city's "Cash for Grass" and toilet rebate programs;

— Limit showers to 5 minutes or less, turn off the faucet when brushing teeth, and flush toilets only when necessary each day;
— Inspect outdoor irrigation systems, repair leaks, adjust spray heads to maximize coverage, avoid overspray/runoff, irrigate two days per week, no more than two minutes per zone, between 6 p.m. - 6 a.m., and turn off within 24 hours of rainfall;
— Wash automobiles, trucks, trailers, boats, airplanes and other types of mobile equipment during the evening and early morning hours to reduce evaporation losses. Such washing shall be done with a handheld bucket or handheld hose equipped with a positive shutoff nozzle used for quick rinses; and
— Reduce monthly demand by 10 percent when compared to the same period in the established base year.
