Lieberstein: "I Work For The People of Napa County"
Napa County DA Gary Lieberstein stands by integrity of his office.

Napa County District Attorney Gary Lieberstein on Saturday stood by the integrity and dedication of his office in working to deliver justice for crime victims and pursue effective prosecution of criminals.
Lieberstein, running for re-election this year to a fifth term, made his comments in response to endorsements announced publicly this week by four Napa area law enforcement unions of one of his challengers, Tom Kensok.
"Our office has worked very closely and cooperatively with law enforcement over the years, and will continue to do so," Lieberstein said. "However, I work for the people of Napa County, not law enforcement, and on rare occasion the interests of justice as determined by my office do not intersect with their interests."
Lieberstein, who made his campaign announcement in December, has the endorsement of more than 85 key elected officials and area leaders.
"As an independent branch of government, it is my obligation to represent all of the community fairly and ethically," he said.  "If the police unions feel differently, it is certainly within their right to support a different candidate for my job. Â
"Regardless of their decisions in this election, I will continue working closely with them and exercising my judgment to best represent all citizens of Napa County," he said.Â
Lieberstein, Kensok and another challenger, Doug Pharr, are expected to face off in the June primary elections.
