UPDATE: Napa Motorcyclist Who Was Killed In Collision Identified

A 42-year-old Napa man was killed in a collision that occurred Wednesday evening on Berryessa Knoxville Road near Berryessa Drive.

The Napa County Sheriff's Office has identified a motorcycle rider who was killed in a collision in rural Napa County as Eric Michael Jensen, 39, of Napa.

Jensen was riding a 2013 BMW motorcycle north on Berryessa Knoxville Road at a high rate of speed around 6:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18 when he collided with a 2011 Chevrolet driven by a 46-year-old man, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Chevrolet driver stopped at the intersection of Berryessa Knoxville Road and Berryessa Drive and turned onto Berryessa Knoxville Road when he thought it was clear, CHP Officer Vince Pompliano said.

Jensen was ejected from the motorcycle when the front end collided with the left side of the Chevrolet, Pompliano said. He died at the scene; the Chevrolet driver suffered minor injuries.

Drugs or alcohol don't appear to be factors in the collision, Pompliano said.

NAPA COUNTY, CA -- A motorcyclist killed Wednesday evening in a collision in unincorporated Napa County was a 42-year-old man from Napa, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred at about 6:09 p.m. on Berryessa Knoxville Road near Berryessa Drive, just west of Lake Berryessa, according to the CHP.

The motorcyclist was traveling north at a high rate of speed when a vehicle that was stopped on Berryessa Drive at the intersection with Berryessa Knoxville Road entered the roadway, the CHP said. The motorcycle then collided into the left side of the vehicle, and the motorcyclist was ejected from the cycle.

The motorcyclist, whose name has not been released pending notification of next of kin, suffered fatal injuries in the collision.

It does not appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision, according to the CHP.
