"We cannot imagine what Jared is going through right now, and the thoughts and prayers of our entire Cal baseball community are with Jared and his family," Neu said.
Five vehicles were involved in the collision, which was allegedly caused by 47-year-old Fred Lowe of Sacramento, who fled the scene but was later arrested, according to the California Highway Patrol.
No charges have been filed against Lowe as of today, according to Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Bobbi Mauler.
