Napa Valley BottleRock Day 1 Not Dampened By Rain

NAPA, CA — Rain and cloudy skies did not dampen the opening curtain to the big show in Napa Friday: the sixth edition of BottleRock Napa Valley music and food extravaganza. Fans arrived in droves, with many brought in on buses from San Jose, Sacramento, San Francisco, Oakland, Palo Alto and elsewhere throughout the Bay Area and Northern California.
Showing the young artists how to put on a great performance, Earth, Wind & Fire packed the JaM Cellars main stage area beyond capacity. Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue also rocked the house. Over on the Midway stage, Lany, an American Indie pop band from Los Angeles, was a big hit. The younger fans gravitated to the Mike D-DJ set Friday afternoon.
Just as diverse as the music was the crowd. Glimpses of glitter-decorated faces added sparkle to an otherwise gray day as young children, folks left over from the hippie days and 20-, 30- and 40-somethings wore festival attire ranging from halter tops and vendor-crafted flower crowns to furry hats, bright coats and just about everything in between.
