Head to the state parks in California, instead, with the "Green Friday" deal -- a free parking-pass offering from nature foundations and activists.

Save the Redwoods League, California State Parks Foundation and California State Parks joined together to invite everyone to bring friends and families to explore 116 beautiful California state parks on Friday, Nov. 25 -- and park for free!

"We’re providing a free day-use parking pass for you to share time with friends and family and give thanks for our beautiful California state parks," said organizers.

BUT ... the passes are limited and securing reservations in advance is recommended.
