Sen Dodd: Earthquake Safety Tips

Senator Bill Dodd reminds residents to prepare for earthquakes and download the MyShake App

Earthquakes are common in California. Surprisingly, many Californians don't consider themselves at risk unless they live on or near the line of a well-known fault. However, the South Napa Earthquake was a clear example that North Bay residents need to take steps to protect themselves.

"I want to make sure you and your loved ones don't get caught unprepared for the next big quake," said Senator Bill Dodd (D-Napa). "Take the time to follow simple steps that can keep you and your family safe."

For tips on how to prepare for an earthquake, click here. The new My Shake app, developed at UC Berkeley, is a major advancement in seismic safety. It taps into a statewide network of earthquake sensors and sends an alert when the ground starts to shake. Even a short warning can save lives.
