ANGWIN, CA — Smoke from a controlled burn in Angwin is expected to be visible in the area for at least seven hours Tuesday, the Napa County Office of Emergency Services said.

Pacific Union College plans to conduct the 13.4-acre controlled burn Tuesday on its demonstration and experimental forest property off Las Posadas Road in Angwin, the county said.

The burn is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is subject to change depending on conditions.

The project is designed to improve forest health, promote native species diversity, and bolster the existing fuel break along the ridgeline that helps protect the community from wildfires.

The prescribed burn is being conducted in coordination with the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and all area fire agencies have been notified, county officials said.
