Need your annual fix of Mexican hot chocolate, handmade tamales or pozole verde? You're in luck this season in the North Bay ...
NORTH BAY, CA — In keeping with its Mexican-heritage vibe, El Pollo Loco is rolling out its annual holiday menu featuring handmade chicken tamales, Mexican hot chocolate and chicken pozole verde, a traditional soup.
The limited-time offerings are at all restaurants throughout California, including at several locales in the North Bay, until Dec. 25, according to management.
"At El Pollo Loco, we embrace tradition – both old and new," said Hector Muñoz, Orange County-based El Pollo Loco's chief marketing officer. "Our customers look forward to these classics every holiday season."

The tamales have a new twist this year — served as "bowls" with three options that "perfectly blend traditional Mexican flavors with Los Angeles culinary inspiration," the company said. Choices include the eatery's fire-grilled chicken simmered in red chile sauce and masa as either two chicken tamales, a tamale and chopped chicken breast or tamale with a chicken leg and thigh.
The chicken pozole verde, a holiday specialty, features chicken and hominy, slow-simmered in a tomatillo broth with garlic, onion and chile.
