Tiger Woods Officially Commits to Golf Tournament in Napa

The Safeway Open is the first stop on the 2016-17 PGA tour and marks Woods' return to golf. And check out who's playing in the Pro-Am!

NAPA, CA — Tiger Woods officially committed Friday to compete at the Safeway Open next week at the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, California. The tournament is the first stop of the 2016-17 PGA tour.

Woods has been out of competition since August of 2015 due to back issues.

Other champs creating excitement for the Safeway Open include two Golden State Warriors greats. Two-time NBA MVP Steph Curry along with 2015 NBA Finals MVP Andre Iguodala will put on golf cleats for the Pro-Am. They'll tee off the morning on Wednesday, Oct 12.

The tournament will be televised worldwide to more than 200 countries on the Golf Channel with lots of media expected.

Silverado Resort and Spa has been the site of 14 PGA tournaments from 1968 through 1980, with the Kaiser International and the Anheuser-Busch Golf Classic.

Also, golf fans can enjoy Live Music After Golf on the mansion lawn with X Ambassadors performing Thursday, Oct. 13; Charles Kelley will perform Friday, Oct 14; and Third Eye Blind will perform Saturday, Oct 15. The concerts are included with general admission tickets.

The only thing that can dampen the event is the long-range weather forecast, which includes a chance of rain for the Friday and Sunday rounds next week.
